Powder Irritant CS (RIP Round)
Primetake’s 12-Gauge Powder Irritant (CS) RIP round incorporates a fully frangible projectile containing CS powder, minimising the risk of ricochet and over penetration. The powder-irritant CS RIP round is available as an operational & training RIP round and can be tailored to various weapons platforms. We can also offer waterproof variants, as well as short-range (high powered) and long-range options.

The Safest RIP Round Solution
All our Powder irritant (CS) RIP rounds are subject to extensive testing to ensure they are compliant with specific regulations. In line with operational guidelines, effective and safe deployment of our irritant rounds can help to support and minimise unintended harm or escalation from aggressors. All RIP rounds have been designed to penetrate common obstacles, such door and double-glazed windows, and offer effective cloud dispersion.
Magnum Compatible RIP Rounds
Primetake’s powder irritant (CS) RIP Rounds, also known as round irritant personnel ammunition are designed for use with 3″ magnum shotguns. Our engineering term are dedicated to ensuring Primetake’s entire method of entry range for 12 gauge rounds offers universal weapons compatibility, regularly testing the latest shotgun platforms in-house at Primetake’s on-site research and development facility.
Capability: Rapid Incapacitation
Primetake’s extensively developed RIP round is capable of breaching doors and glass, releasing CS upon impact, causing intense discomfort, including respiratory irritation, coughing, eye watering, and temporary disorientation. Upon firing, compression and friction generate an expanding airborne irritant, with a 10m spread (expulsed outwardly from the object of penetration), incapacitating individuals within range. The effects are rapid and designed to incapacitate without causing permanent harm.
Distance & Accuracy
All our long range RIP rounds have a minimum distance of 65m, with the long range waterproof variant operating accurately over a minimum distance of 35m, whilst the recommended stand-off for all short range rounds (both the standard and the waterproof variant) is 25mm. All RIP Round variants are comprehensively tested and proofed for accuracy, with long range RIP rounds tested within a 1m x 1m meter target, dependent on requested deviation parameters.
RIP Rounds for Officer Training
Primetake’s training RIP round equivalent is designed to mimic operational variants without the powder irritant (CS), allowing realistic practice sessions to take place. The specialised 12 gauge training cartridges provide police forces with a powerful and controlled alternative for critical tactical training.
