Our technical research and development department is made up of a well-established team of subject matter experts. The team’s drive for innovation, combined with their extensive range of specialisms, serves to enhance Primetake’s unrivalled capabilities in the following areas of expertise:

  • Pyrotechnics
  • Ballistics
  • Smoke and distraction devices
  • 12 gauge technologies
  • Ceremonial saluting cartridges
  • Improvised explosive ordnance disposal and demolition
  • Sniper ammunition
  • Aviation safety, bird scaring, and wildlife management
  • Oil flare ignition
  • Counter drone technology

Each project is managed through our New Product Development process, which is presided over by our most relevant subject matter expert. The product design methodology follows a Design Manual, which is continually moulded and scrutinised by the Head of Department, as well as the Senior Leadership Team, throughout the project’s journey. All products are carefully designed and rigorously tested to exacting global industry standards.

Primetake’s purpose-built facility allows the team to environmentally test and qualify products for extreme settings. Angelantoni Climatic Chambers are used to mimic atmospheric conditions from -54C to +71C and our ballistic range allows for glass and armour penetration testing. The team can also test to CIP (Commission Internationale Permanente pour l’épreuve des armes à feu portatives) for commercial calibres. Our comprehensive testing procedures also incorporate universal receivers for proof barrels and an Electronic Pressure Velocity Action Time (EPVAT) rig. Our on-site engineering workshop allows the team to adapt and improve upon designs during the testing period, facilitating rapid and cost-effective product design/prototyping.

Alongside Primetake’s quality assurance, we pride ourselves on customer intimacy. Over the years, we have learned to anticipate the demands of our end users and so we are well-versed in delivering comprehensive technical support before, during, and after sales. Our team uses Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) to constantly monitor our existing products and processes to ensure they are aligned with the needs and wants of our clients. One of our most recent projects, for instance, is to strive to reduce the amount of single-use plastics in our products. Even in these early stages, we have already made significant progress.
